A module-based programme, DGNB Construction Site Coordinator training enables you to become a certification expert for the DGNB System for Sustainable Construction Sites. You will acquire the necessary knowledge and authorisation to submit construction sites for certification under the DGNB System, thus supporting property managers and owners at all stages of the certification process.
This training is held in German.

The DGNB Construction Site Coordinator title recognises certification experts in sustainable construction sites. DGNB Construction Site Coordinators are specialists in auditing projects in accordance with the DGNB System for Sustainable Construction Sites and support property managers and owners throughout the entire certification process.
This certification is applicable to both building construction and civil engineering projects and is aimed at building owners, local authorities, construction companies and construction departments.

Note on the examination: the online exam to qualify as a DGNB Construction Site Coordinator takes place after participating in the two modules (Expert Know-How – Sustainable Construction Sites and Certification Know-How – Sustainable Construction Sites). Self-study preparation for the exam takes approx. 25 hours, depending on your personal learning style and previous knowledge.
In a 30-minute examination we use multiple choice questions to test the content of Expert Know-How – Sustainable Construction Sites. To pass, you must achieve at least 70 per cent in the exam.
Participation in the exam is not compulsory if you are already a certified DGNB Consultant or DGNB Auditor.

Certification Know-How – Sustainable Construction Sites
After successful participation, you will receive a digital copy of certificates of attendance for the modules you have attended.
After signing the licensing agreement:
- Receipt of your officially recognised title as a DGNB Construction Site Coordinator
- DGNB Construction Site Coordinator certificate in digital form
- Listing as a DGNB Certification expert on the DGNB website
- DGNB Construction Site Coordinator logo in digital form incl. DGNB style guide for communicating your qualification (e.g. email signatures, website, marketing materials)
- Access to the DGNB System Software
- Access to the members-only area for DGNB Construction Site Coordinators on the myDGNB networking website
- Possibilities to participate in the DGNB expert day and receive fast-track and cost-effective training as well as exchange ideas and network with other DGNB Certification experts
- Regular newsletters for DGNB Certification experts
To register for the exam, you must provide evidence that you have attended Expert Know-How – Sustainable Construction Sites and Certification Know-How – Sustainable Construction Sites. You must take the exam no later than 24 months after participating in these modules.
Furthermore, we require one of the following:
- A degree in civil engineering, architecture, construction management, environmental engineering, building services engineering, urban and regional planning, structural engineering, water management or project management with a focus on construction
- With at least one year of relevant work experience (post-master/diploma) or
- With at least three years of relevant work experience (post-bachelor) - Alternatively: completed vocational training in construction industry with five years of relevant work experience
- Alternatively: a qualification as a safety and health coordinator
- Alternatively: experience in site management on at least three construction projects
Under certain circumstances, we also recognise qualifications acquired in other areas.
As a DGNB Consultant or DGNB Auditor, you do not need to meet any of the above prerequisites.
Under the licensing agreement, to continue to use the DGNB Construction Site Coordinator title you must provide evidence that you have earned 6 DGNB CPD points per year.
You can earn CPD points by attending the DGNB expert days or other training courses offered by the DGNB Academy. You also receive CPD points for each successfully submitted and certified project. Once you sign the licensing agreement, the CPD obligation begins in the calendar year following the year in which the examination to become a DGNB Construction Site Coordinator was passed.
Licensed DGNB Certification experts are exempt from the mandatory training as DGNB Construction Site Coordinator. CPD points for maintaining a licence (with the highest number of CPD points required) must still be obtained. Become a DGNB Construction Site Coordinator

Frequently asked questions about the DGNB Construction Site Coordinator
The training programme (consisting of Expert Know-How – Sustainable Construction Sites and Certification Know-How – Sustainable Construction Sites, plus the exam to become a DGNB Construction Site Coordinator) lasts at least 7 weeks.
For existing DGNB Auditors and DGNB Biodiversity Managers, the training programme is shortened due to the exemption from Certification Know-How. Both DGNB Auditors and DGNB Consultants can complete the training without taking an examination (see section on How to become a DGNB Construction Site Coordinator).
The exam will involve questions on the content of Expert Know-How – Sustainable Construction Sites. Content from the course on Certification Know-How – Sustainable Construction Sites does not feature in the exam. At the start of the training course we provide you with exam instructions to help you prepare for the exam.
If you do not pass the DGNB Construction Site Coordinator examination the first time, you will be given a second chance free of charge. It is also possible to attempt to pass the exam a third time but we do charge 50% of the examination fee for this.
If you have not passed by the third attempt, you have the final option of taking an oral examination. This will only take place on request and in person at the DGNB office. We charge the full examination fee for this.
To use the DGNB Construction Site Coordinator title and logo, and submit projects for DGNB Certification, we require you to sign a licensing agreement. The general licensing conditions can be found here.

As a licensed DGNB Certification expert, you can expand your service portfolio with DGNB Construction Site Coordinator training. For licensed DGNB Auditors and DGNB Biodiversity Managers, the training programme is shortened due to the exemption from Certification Know-How.
The DGNB Construction Site Coordinator exam is not required for licensed DGNB Consultants and DGNB Auditors.
Once you have obtained your licence of one of your DGNB titles (6 or 8 CPD points) you’ve also secured your DGNB Construction Site Coordinator licence. The required CPD points are therefore not added together – despite two separate licences: licensing conditions (see exceptions).
