Sustainable building is a growth market that offers architects and planners of all kinds a wide range of opportunities. After all, the key to sustainable buildings and districts lies in early, integral planning that takes the many sustainability requirements into account in a holistic manner. The rapidly increasing importance of certifications and the need for corresponding know-how form a basis for this. Offices can position themselves in this area by training employees to become DGNB Auditors and Consultants.
Becoming a member of Europe's largest network for sustainable building gives you access to potential clients and partners. To help you get started, the DGNB offers a wide range of knowledge modules, publications and tools that are available free of charge. In addition, the "Phase Sustainability" initiative is a network specifically for architects and planners that strengthens the exchange of experience and knowledge.
A sound knowledge of the requirements of sustainable construction is the basis for all architecture and planning offices that wish to specialise in this field. This is precisely what the DGNB Academy provides. The offer ranges from a comprehensive seminar programme to specialisation in all aspects of certification. By the way: As a DGNB member, you will receive discounts on all courses. You also receive continuing education points from the Chamber of Architects.
Together with the Federal Chamber of Architects, the DGNB has launched the "Phase Sustainability" initiative. The aim is to achieve a transformation of planning practice towards sustainability as a new normal through a solidarity of the architectural community. Instead of just signing another climate manifesto, the participating offices commit to pushing the most important sustainability issues in their discussions with clients. The core component of the initiative is the Sustainability Declaration. This is intended to support the definition of individual project goals and priorities between planners and clients, and this for every project.
For the DGNB, Baukultur is an essential component of sustainability. For this reason, the DGNB has created the "DGNB Diamond" award to complement certification. This award is given to projects that have outstanding design quality. We are supported in the assessment by our Commission for Design Quality.
