This digital on-demand course equips you with the procedural and practical knowledge needed to successfully accompany and submit DGNB Certifications according to the DGNB System for Buildings In Use. You will learn about the certification process steps and the software solutions used by the DGNB, as well as how to effectively collaborate with owners, property managers and other project stakeholders.

You will have four weeks' access to the DGNB learning platform, where you can study the content at Your own pace through explanatory videos, concise texts and knowledge checks. An online Q&A session with DGNB learning guides gives you the opportunity to ask questions directly.

The event takes place on the DGNB's online learning platform and will be in German.

Acquired knowledge regarding the certification of buildings in use also forms part of DGNB Buildings In Use Auditor training and can only be booked in this context.

The DGNB Buildings In Use Auditor training spans three modules (Expert Know-How – Climate Action Roadmap for Carbon Neutral Buildings, Expert Know-How – Sustainable Buildings In Use and Certification Know-How – Sustainable Buildings In Use) and, after successful completion of the exam, qualifies participants to submit Building In Use projects to the DGNB for certification.

This on-demand course provides you with the foundational knowledge needed to guide Buildings In Use projects through the DGNB Certification process — from advising portfolio managers and owners, to successfully completing DGNB Certification. You will learn about the DGNB Certification process steps and tools, as well as how to collaborate effectively with clients and contractors throughout the project.

Subject area 1: DGNB processes and criteria processing

Using explanatory videos, concise texts and knowledge checks, you will acquire the procedural and practical knowledge needed to successfully register and submit a project to the DGNB.

Subject area 2: Practical project support

Text modules and interviews with a DGNB Buildings In Use Auditor provide practical insights into accompanying DGNB Certification projects.

  • The services of a DGNB Buildings In Use Auditor and the process of managing bids and contracts
  • Carrying out pre-checks and using pre-checks to manage projects and teams
  • Calculating the cost of your services and planning coordination
  • Successful monitoring, support and documentation of certification during implementation

  • You will be able to discuss evidence and documentation requirements for individual DGNB criteria with project stakeholders
  • You will understand what is important in the conformity check and will be authorised to submit Buildings In Use projects for certification to the DGNB

After completing the three modules (Expert Know-How – Climate Action Roadmap for Carbon Neutral Buildings, Expert Know-how – Sustainable Buildings In Use and Certification Know-How – Sustainable Buildings In Use) of the DGNB Buildings In Use Auditor training course, you will take a 30-minute exam at the end of this last course to confirm your knowledge of optimisation strategies for existing buildings and the DGNB System Buildings In Use. After passing the exam, you will be awarded the title of DGNB Buildings In Use Auditor. Further information can be found here.

The 30-minute exam consists of a total of 25 questions and is taken online. The exam assesses knowledge of Expert Know-How – Climate Action Roadmap for Carbon Neutral Buildings and Expert Know-How – Sustainable Buildings In Use through multiple-choice questions. Contents of Certification Know-How – Sustainable Buildings In Use are not assessed. A score of at least 70 percent is required to pass the exam. If you do not pass the first time, You are entitled to a free second attempt. Please note that the training modules and the online examination are booked separately.

We will send you a certificate of attendance to provide clear evidence that you have acquired the required know-how.

Using explanatory videos, texts and interactive quizzes, you learn through our digital learning platform, determine your own learning pace and work through content independently. We recommend that you put around eleven hours aside for the course. Our tutors will walk you through the course in the videos. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions that may arise and discuss them with other course participants and an expert from the DGNB in an online Q&A session.

You will receive access data for the learning platform two to three working days in advance. Our learning platform can be accessed through all standard browsers. No downloads are required. Alternatively, you can also use the app to learn on the go.

This course has been registered with the Chamber of Architects North Rhine-Westphalia for recognition as continuing education and training.
