Opportunities for the Built Environment - Consense featuring attractive program. International trade fair and congress, June 19 – 20 in Stuttgart

The German Sustainable Building Council GeSBC (DNGB - Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen) will treat visitors to several premieres at Consense 2012. On the evening before Consense opens, the first World Green Building Night will offer a fitting ambience for the launch of the international trade fair and congress, which will be held in Stuttgart from June 19 to 20, 2012.

In addition, the World Green Building Council (World GBC) will hold its annual conference as part of Consense. The event contributes further important information and ideas to the attractive platform for architects, planners, investors, building operators, project developers and manufacturers.

Baden-Württemberg's Minister of Environment Franz Untersteller and DGNB President Manfred Hegger will open the official segment of the World Green Building Night at 7 p.m. in the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart. All those interested in sustainable building are invited to attend. Here the "who’s who" of the sustainable building scene will come together, offering opportunities for conversation with international experts and for networking. DGNB members will receive tickets free of charge. For other conference participants, a limited number of tickets is available. They receive a ticket by registering for a two-day-plus pass: www.consense-messe.de

The German Sustainable Building Council is partnering with Messe Stuttgart to host Consense for the fifth time. The concept also won over World GBC, which is hosting its annual conference as a guest event at Consense this year. Joining the conference from 80 different nations, experts from non-profit organizations will contribute additional insights from the construction and real estate sectors.

The overarching theme of the Consense conference is "Perspectives for 2020: Challenges and Opportunities for the Built Environment." Speakers from Germany and other countries will present tangible visions of a society that accepts responsibility, providing a sketch of their ideas for initiatives to build a sustainable economy. This year, DGNB will once again look at the big picture and encourage crosspollination between disciplines. Representatives of renowned organizations such as UNEP and the nonpartisan B.A.U.M. environmental initiative will introduce their approaches towards a betterconstructed and more livable environment.

Twenty-four workshops will be held to allow participants to focus on issues and deepen their knowledge. Here planners, investors, architects, building operators, manufacturers and project developers will have the opportunity to look more closely at specific questions and hold discussions with competent partners. Detailed focus will be placed on the sustainable planning of city districts as well as on success strategies for municipalities. Ambitious concepts for operating buildings will be analyzed and specific marketing instruments for investors and facility managers will be fine-tuned. Issues of interest to every target group will be discussed here with competent experts.

On the first day of Consense, the DGNB Certificate or Pre-certificate will be presented to well-planned and implemented buildings and objects which serve as models to others. The Stage, where experts from the conference will hold open discussions, is sure to draw a large audience, as are numerous special shows. Here visitors can learn about innovations, new developments, solutions and the latest trends. For the first time, "Consense University" will also open its doors. As part of their partnership with Consense, four institutes of higher learning will hold short and incisive lectures on site.
