Consense 2012 reveals opportunities

It is the hallmark of Consense that it has become a short cut to experts, exhibitors, congress and trade fair visitors. In the past five years, the International Trade Fair for Sustainable Building, Investment, Operations and Maintenance has become an established concept.

This is where renowned manufacturers meet skilled experts to discuss urgent issues and future orientated solutions. On 19 and 20 June 2012, Messe Stuttgart and the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) will again play host to this unique platform and will continue to strive towards continuing internationalisation.

Consense is taking place for the fifth time in 2012 and proves that the issue of sustainability has become a major economic factor. The high response of visitors emphasises the significance which the construction and property industry attaches to the topic. Above all, the main group of guests at the event covers architects, planners and engineers followed by investors and project steerers. Renowned exhibitors, including Hochtief, BASF, Goldbeck, Leonhard Weiss and manufacturers Caparol, Keimfarben and Upofloor Oy, have committed to attending in 2012. For the third time, the special show "Consense Material“ from raumPROBE will be there from the start. It provides an overview of the entire range of innovative materials that can be used in building.

One successful concept of Consense is the combination of trade fair and congress with high-ranking experts. Together they offer an attractive event on the two trade fair days. Congress speakers and exhibitors meet with trade fair visitors at "Forum“ and "Stage“. In concrete terms, this means that exhibitors have the opportunity of presenting exciting products and innovative offers at "Forum"; on the other hand, trade fair visitors and people attending the congress can experience at first hand speakers and innovative trends at "Stage". All this is presented in the perfect setting of the exhibition area in the trade fair halls.

The international congress is organised and presented by the DGNB. The plenary session is the domain of pioneers and competent leaders from the construction, facility management and property industry. Among others, the former General Secretary of the United Nations for Climate, Yvo de Boer, has promised to attend. Today, he works as consultant for KPMG and he will be speaking at Consense on the complex topic of a "Sustainable Society“. Congress attendees can also look forward to Ken Yeang, pioneer in ecological design in architecture – both in urban planning and high-rise buildings. Accompanying workshops geared to various different target groups offer the possibility of concentrating in depth on specific topics.

The interest of congress visitors to the trade fair continues to remain high – last year, 98 percent of attendees took the opportunity of visiting the trade fair. The congress will be officially opened on the first day of the event by Professor Manfred Hegger, President of the DGNB, and Jane Henley, CEO of the World Green Building Council (WGBC).  The annual congress of the WGBC which attracts experts from over 80 countries will take place during Consense and in Germany for the first time.

A highlight of the trade fair and congress will be the award of DGNB certificates and preliminary silver certificates for special excellence in planned buildings and urban districts. This will also be open to the public this year. The DGNB is organising the exclusive concurrent special exhibition "DGNB International“. Based on concrete projects, the exhibition shows step by step how the DGNB System can be adapted and applied in various countries.

If you are seeking key information on major strategic measures in sustainable building, planning and construction, you will be at exactly the right place at Consense on 19 and 20 June 2012. Whether you are attending the congress or you are an exhibitor or a visitor – the meeting place is Messe Stuttgart; it has excellent transport links and is easy to reach by rail, road or plane.

Visitors may attend the trade fair separately from the congress – although combined tickets are also available.
